Animal Attraction

I’m kind of addicted to ribbon animals. I know that’s a strange statement, but once you make one, you can’t stop yourself from making more. For the past year or two I’ve seen a lot of ladies selling these cute ribbon animals at craft shows. They use them on headbands, hairclips and little pins. I’ve even seen them sewn onto little socks. I thought they would make cute additions to scrapbook pages, cards or even as embellishments on top of a small gift box.

Before you get started, raid your supply of ribbons. I like grosgrain ribbon for most projects like this because it has a little texture and tends to be easier to work with, but you can certainly use any ribbon you like. This is also an excellent project for small scraps you might have saved from past projects.

Other Supplies:

  • Hot glue gun
  • Aleene’s® Tacky Glue™
  • Wiggle eyes
  • Adhesive jewels and pearls
  • Any other embellishments that fit the character or item you are making

I was able to make some of these ribbon animals myself, simply by looking at pictures of animals. For others, I had to find instructions. I recommend searching for “How to make ribbon animals” online and you will find more ideas than you will ever be able to create. Many of the sites have step-by-step instructions that will help you build specific animals.

I sat for hours making ribbon animals and haven’t decided what to use them on yet, but I had to share them because they are so cute! See if you can create some fun new animals and make a party out of it!
