Valentine's Day & St. Patrick's Day Sunday School Celebrations

Early spring is filled with so many fun holidays and celebrations. Some, such as Lent and Holy Week, are perfectly suited to church activities and celebrations, but other holidays, such as Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day, seem to have more commercial appeal. So how can you add a religious twist to these holiday celebrations? The answer is simple: focus on faith-themed activities and giveaways for your Sunday School class!

Valentine’s Day
If you have Jesus in your heart, Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to let it show! Valentine’s Day is all about love, so if you want to celebrate this holiday in a religious setting, simply focus on Jesus’ love.

Begin your Valentine’s Day celebration by doing a little decorating in your Sunday School classroom. Start with Valentine balloons and streamers, and then add some Inspirational Valentine items that focus on both love and religion.

For activities, choose some religious Valentine crafts the children can make to keep or give to those they love. Add some Valentine candy and small gifts (bookmarks, stickers, stampers, plush bears) and your Valentine’s Day celebration is ready to go!

St. Patrick’s Day

Wearing green, great food, fun legends…what’s not to love about St. Patrick’s Day!  This year, try throwing a St. Patrick’s Day celebration that focuses on blessings and God’s love.

Green decorations are easy to come by. Balloons, streamers, cutouts and the like are all readily available, and you can easily add an inspirational element to St. Patrick’s Day decorations in your Sunday School classroom.. Remember to pick up some fun extras like shamrock pencils, necklaces, stickers and candy, too!

To tie into a lesson on faith, have Sunday School students make Trinity shamrock projects, using the shamrocks to explain the Holy Trinity while still being big on green!
