Snacks are an important part of any Vacation Bible School. You want them to be a combination of fun and healthy, and if you’re lucky, even tie into your theme. If you’re thinking about using the New York City VBS theme, there are lots of snack ideas you can use that kids will love AND that fit your theme nicely. Here are some ideas you can build on.

Meals
New York City is known for its food. From street vendors to 5-star restaurants, you can find anything you crave. For your New York VBS, consider using a street vendor-type food if you need to serve a meal. You can really use anything and make it more “New York” by giving it an appropriate name and trying to incorporate a food vendor cart (either real or creatively constructed). Here are some examples of ordinary food with New York names to get you started:

•    Hot Dogs
Call them Coney Island Dogs and have the condiments on a food vendor-type cart.
•    Brooklyn Burgers
Great for cookouts!
•    Manhattan Pizza
Easy to serve and always a favorite with kids!

Decorate the table in NYC subway style!

Use the food vendor cart as a place to load up on toppings!

Make them as simple or complex as you choose!


Snacks
Sometimes you just need snacks for your VBS. Here are some New York snack ideas:
