Halloween Safety Tips

Halloween is a favorite holiday for many kids, with the chance to dress up and go door to door in search of a treasure of sweet treats.  To ensure a safe Halloween for all involved, follow these safety guidelines and you and your little goblins will enjoy a fright night to remember:


- Make sure trick-or-treaters are supervised at all timesHalloweensafety_3   


- Stay in familiar neighborhoods


- Walk only on sidewalks, and cross the street at clearly-marked crosswalks


- Only visit houses where porch lights are on


Kidstrickortreating - Look for costumes with white or light colored material, or give kids glow-in-the-dark novelty jewelry to help them been seen on Halloween night. 


- Carry flashlights to avoid unseen obstacles in the dark


- Trick-or-treat in groups


- If your kids are wearing masks, make sure they fit well and allow clear vision


- Make sure costumes don’t have long pants, cloaks or capes to avoid tripping


- Before kids enjoy their sweet treats, check all collected candy for open wrappers or candy that appears to have been tampered with
