Graduation Party Activities

Yellow Graduation Party Yard Sign With FringeIt’s your graduate’s big day! Make it extra special with a party they’ll remember for years. Plan ahead with a fun theme and party activities to keep your guests entertained. Your graduate will thank you for it!

School Colors Theme
- They’ve devoted four years to their school, so show off your pride with a school colors theme. Ask guests to dress in your school colors then decorate your party to match. You can even serve coordinating snacks on matching tableware!

Sign a Banner - For the ultimate in graduation wishes, hang an oversized banner for guests to sign. The graduate will enjoy reading all their words of encouragement when the party is over.

Balloon Release - As guests arrive, hand each one an index card and ask them to write a note marking the graduate’s achievement. Attach their notes to helium-filled balloons. When it’s time, have guests read their notes then have everyone release the balloons together after a countdown to zero!

Bury a Time Capsule
- Gather mementos from your graduate’s senior year: football game tickets, a school newspaper, prom photos, term papers and a report card make great memories. Record a CD of their favorite songs, have friends and relatives sign a memory book and gather any keepsakes from clubs or special events. At your party, pack everything into a sealed container and bury it to be opened at your student’s college graduation party. (If you don’t have a lawn, store the box in an attic or safe-deposit box.) They’ll love looking back at how things have changed in just a few years!

Hang a Piñata - A party favorite, guests of all ages will enjoy taking their turn at a piñata. Fill it with candy, small toys or personalized favors guests can keep.

School Mascot Theme - Plan your party around either your graduate’s high school mascot or their soon-to-be college’s mascot. Coordinate your decorations, tableware and even party food to match. Be creative! Try Tiger-striped cookies, Bear trail mix, blue-tinted Shark punch or black and yellow Hornet jelly beans.

Luau Theme - Go tropical with a backyard luau. Decorations, favors and music can set the scene for a fun time. It’s a great way to celebrate in the summertime!

Lawn Bingo - If you have a large crowd, this can be really fun! Spray paint a few large bingo cards on your lawn. As you call the numbers, use people as card markers. Hand out party favors for all the participants and larger prizes for the winners.

Photo Booth - Decorate assorted backdrops using painted tarps, flat bed sheets or even rolls of gift wrap mounted to cardboard. Try a beach scene, a concert stage, a football field or other scenes that fit your graduate’s interests. Have the graduate pose for a photo with each guest. Don’t forget to bring props to use with your fun backgrounds!
